Description

PowerAssist

The MultiPlus-II will prevent overload of a limited AC source, such as a generator or shore power connection. First, battery charging will automatically be reduced when otherwise an overload would occur. The second level will boost the output of a generator or shore side supply with power taken from the battery.

ESS: Energy Storage Systems

The MultiPlus-II is the key component in a Victron ESS system, providing the flexibility to combine with MPPT Solar Chargers or Grid-tie PV Inverters. For examples and more detailed information see the ESS (Energy Storage System) manual.

Uninterrupted AC power (UPS function)

In the event of a grid failure, or when shore or generator power is disconnected, the inverter within the Multi is automatically activated and takes over the supply to the connected loads. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption.

Remote Monitoring and Control

Monitor and control your Multi and system or systems' locally (LAN) or remotely via the internet from anywhere in the world, using the free VRM app and free VRM portal website. Access can be from a phone, tablet, laptop, or PC for multiple operating systems. There is no end to the level of control, via the required Color Control GX or Venus GX, from adjusting your Multi to auto-starting a back generator and more. A MultiPlus, plus ESS (Energy Storage System) functionality The MultiPlus-II is a multi-functional inverter/charger with all the features of the MultiPlus, plus an external current sensor option that extends the PowerControl and PowerAssist function to 50A resp. 100A. The MultiPlus-II is ideally suited for professional marine, yachting, vehicle, and land-based off-grid applications. It also has built-in anti-islanding functionality and an increasingly long list of country approvals for ESS application. Several system configurations are possible. For more detailed information see the ESS Design and configuration manual. PowerControl and PowerAssist - Boosting the capacity of the grid or a generator A maximum grid or generator current can be set. The MultiPlus-II will then take account of other AC loads and use whatever is extra for battery charging, thus preventing the generator or grid from being overloaded (PowerControl function). PowerAssist takes the principle of PowerControl to a further dimension. Where peak power is so often required only for a limited period, the MultiPlus-II will compensate insufficient generator, shore, or grid power with power from the battery. When the load reduces, the spare power is used to recharge the battery. Solar energy: AC power available even during a grid failure The MultiPlus-II can be used in off-grid as well as grid-connected PV and other alternative energy systems. It is compatible with both solar charger controllers and grid-tie inverters. Two AC Outputs The main output has no-break functionality. The MultiPlus-II takes over the supply to the connected loads in the event of a grid failure or when shore/generator power is disconnected. This happens so fast (less than 20 milliseconds) that computers and other electronic equipment will continue to operate without disruption. The second output is life only when AC is available on the input of the MultiPlus-II. Loads that should not discharge the battery, like a water heater, for example, can be connected to this output. Virtually unlimited power thanks to parallel and three-phase operation Up to 6 Multis can operate in parallel to achieve higher power output. Six 48/5000/70 units, for example, will provide 25 kW / 30 kVA output power with 420 Amps charging capacity. In addition to parallel connection, three units of the same model can be configured for three-phase output. But that’s not all: up to 6 sets of three units can be parallel connected for a 75 kW / 90 kVA inverter and more than 1200 Amps charging capacity. On-site system configuring, monitoring and control Settings can be changed in a matter of minutes with VEConfigure software (computer or laptop and MK3-USB interface needed). Several monitoring and control options are available: Color Control GX, Venus GX, Octo GX, CANvu GX, laptop, computer, Bluetooth (with the optional VE.Bus Smart dongle), Battery Monitor, Digital Multi Control Panel. Remote configuring and monitoring Install a Color Control GX or other GX product to connect to the internet. Operational data can be stored and displayed on our VRM (Victron Remote Management) website, free of charge. When connected to the internet, systems can be accessed remotely, and settings can be changed.

Power Outage Solution

Great product from Victron, now we don't know what is load shedding at our apartment, the switch over of AC load when Eskom is off is seamless even a monitor wont blink. We have one Pylontech 3.5kw lithium iron battery, no solar panels connected since we stay in the middle floor, the battery charges from the grid. Planning to upgrade when we move to a bigger place.

Unfortunately, Livestainable delayed delivering our order. They delivered on working day 8.

Load shedding Knockout DIY project

With the lack of a cogent backup power plan in SA, it is apparent that load shedding will be with us, at minimum, until 2030. I did a lot of research on BUDGET quality high end inverters and found that the 3 kVA UPS from Victron can take over with ease the average house electricity needs. Connected all the plugs and lights in our house to the UPS function on the inverter and since then ZERO load shedding - no more damage to the fridges and TV been switched off 2 to 4 times a day. Only stove(gas) and geyser(solar) not connected. Did everything on a budget of R30 000, 18 for the inverter, 10 for (4x110a) deep cycle batteries and 2 for the cables and switches. Got my foot in the door and it is easy now to add more batteries, solar panels and more inverters (in parallel) if needed. We have now 24/7 hours electricity, it run our internet, 2 computers & printer, 3 fridges, TV, Microwave, washing machine and even my wife's hair dryer... Happy Wife is a Happy Life!
