I purchased this of Livestainable, and as it is sold as-is to the public, I figured I would be able to install this at home with a bit of instructions included.
Boy, was I wrong.
First off, there are no instructions provided whatsoever. Absolutely none. Not even a label on the filters or housings or anything to tell you what filters go where, where the water goes in, where it comes out, nothing. There are ball valves and shutoff things and pipes and fittings but there's absolutely no indicators to tell you where it needs to go.
I Googled instructions and found none. I searched product pages and found no help. I eventually found another brand's guide, but it was for a different filter system and only partially helped. Then the ball valve that was supposed to provide water to the system proved faulty, so I ended up having to make a different plan.
The tap that is included (that you're supposed to mount on your kitchen counter) has a threaded shaft that is too short for a regular 32mm Postform top. If you mount the tap on the little shiny base it comes with, then the shaft has not enough thread exposed to get the fixing nut installed and tightened, while still providing a seal on the water coming from the filters. This I only found out later after the water was turned on and it started dripping into the cabinet.
Finally, the waste water fittings are for 38mm pipes. Nobody in South Africa uses 38mm wastewater fittings, we operate on 50mm pipes as a standard, so I had to make a plan there as well.
Anyway, in the end I had to get a plumber to assist. He guided me through the process of where all the pipes go, and I managed to get it all up and running. I followed the Fluxtek instructions from a different unit and disposed the first tank's water, but the second and third tank's water was also powdery and not very clean. It ended up taking several rinses to get the water clear and tasting correct. Now that it's up and running it works well enough, but the installation was a huge challenge. I have no idea why it comes with no instructions at all, and I see this as a massive product flaw/fault.
As a PS: I did call the Livestainable support line, could not get through, were told that a ticket was logged and I'd be called back, but it's been a few days and no callback yet, so that was a useless adventure as well.
